What I have watched and read in 2025

mediapersonal

Inspired by ANHVN's media recaps, I wanted to create my own for 2025. Here's all I've read and watched this year.

Books

I've set my Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2025 at 36 books. I've managed to read 38 and will probably finish one more before the year ends. My favorite moments to read are either before going to bed (I even do this when coming home drunk hehe), in the train or on the weekends on a rainy afternoon. Here are some of the books I read this year that stood out:

  • Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Read. Every book that Read writes hits the spot for me.
  • Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. It was really fascinating to learn more about Jobs's interesting personality and the early days of Apple.
  • Verity by Colleen Hoover. I don't like most romance books by Hoover, because I think they are quite shallow. She wanted to do something different with this one in a more horror-style, and it did grab my attention. There are quite a few plot holes in the story, but I did want to keep reading.
  • Unbound by Kasia Urbaniak. Kasia is fascinating, with her background in both Tao medicine and being a former dominatrix. This is the first non-fiction book that truly wow-ed me in a few years. She talks about true desires, finding your power and embodying these to others. I'm still intrigued by her stories and will definitely read this again.

Movies and (online) TV

  • Clarkson's Farm. Endlessly entertaining. I love British humor and the life on a farm is as done by Jeremy is both interesting and funny. Very good to watch together with family.
  • Adolescence on Netflix. I convinced everyone around me to watch it and I read all the Reddit threads about it. The acting is so good as well.
  • Zoe Sugg's channel on YouTube. Maybe it's my nostalgia from the olden golden days of YouTube, but I still really enjoy watching her channel. Her videos give off the ultimate cozy vibes.
  • De Mol België. The Belgium Mol series is so much better than the Dutch one. I really enjoyed this season in Thailand, especially because I travelled through the country last year.
  • Wicked and then mostly part 1. I watched this in January 2025 in the cinema, and I still listen to the soundtrack in December, so that gives an indication about how much it stuck with me.
  • Anna Howard on YouTube. I love her deep dives and her thought process. Almost every time a new video comes out, the topic was something that I was already thinking about.

Games

  • Backgammon kept me entertained throughout my entire Mexico trip.
